After 13 years of supporting hands-on biodiversity learning, the Student Data Portal (SDP) is being formally retired. Through NSF-support and the enthusiasm of educators across the country, the SDP enabled:
Together, students analyzed and contributed 19,504 records to BOLD — a tremendous accomplishment that showcases the impact of classroom-driven science.
Although the SDP platform is being decommissioned, we continue to explore new funding opportunities and remain committed to supporting student participation in biodiversity research.
We’re excited to introduce BugQuest, a national initiative inviting schools and communities across Canada to collect insects using simple, standardized protocols, and identify them through DNA barcoding. BugQuest carries forward the spirit of student involvement in real scientific discovery.
